Simply put, we’re busy. Getting ready for San Diego Comic-Con is a lot of work and we need a little time away from our monkey to get things in order.
Mike WILL return, probably in the next month or so, but for right now we need some breathing space. Please subscribe to the feed and you’ll never miss an update.
If anyone if actually MISSING the updates, we apologize. Stay tuned!
Here’s one of two new characters introduced in this story arc that were named in honor of some friends of mine. Captain Baker was named after a co-worker, Steve Baker, at Florida Power and Light who eventually became my boss until I left to go work for Disney. He was a big supporter of mine from the beginning and always wanted to be in one of my books. Izzy did a great job designing his look too.
Now that most of the crew has been introduced we have the chance to dive into the story of who Mike is, what drives him and who his real friends and enemies are. One of my favorite traits about Mike is how “human” he is. We wanted to deliver a character with character. We took the time to figure out how he interacts with every crew member on an individual basis, and made sure this reflected in his dialog and personality when dealing with them. We didn’t want him to come off as a jerk but there’s ship to run, and he can’t afford to be buddy-buddy with everyone.
You may have noticed a few changes around here this evening.
We’ve now enabled comments on all of our news blog posts and added a fresh coat of paint to the site. If you see or experience any issues (we’ve been known to make a few mistakes in the past…) let us know and we’ll try to fix the situation asap.
We’re planning on adding a discussion system to the comic pages themselves so you can talk about how awesome each installment was… but until then we really look forward to hearing from you now that we have a more direct way of communicating.
Congratulations to Steve Shinn, April’s winner of a 9.8 CGC certified copy of Atomik Mike #1. Thanks for reading the daily strip. Keep coming back for more space monkey fun.
Finally we get a glimpse of Mike Conners’ arch enemy Captain Tariq! Find out how Mike was transformed into a monkey in the next few weeks of the ongoing saga of our little monkey spaceman.
Not that Mike had any say in his condition, but if you were transformed into a space roving animal what type would you want to be? Give us your answer on the Atomik Mike Facebook page.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all my fellow Irish out there. Hope you’re still digging the story of our favorite Irish Monkey. Make sure you come back tomorrow for our first Atomik Mike giveaway. We’ll be giving away a CGC 9.8 graded copy of issue #1. Everyone have a fun and safe holiday. I’ll be out tonight trying to convince my favorite bartender to create a new drink named after him. Any suggestions?
Wow, can’t believe are already three weeks into the comic. Thanks to everyone that became our fan on facebook and continue to come back to the site to read the story. To celebrate the first month of the web comic, next week, we’ll be giving away our first prize. A 9.8 GCG graded copy of Atomik Mike #1. More to come. Stick around.
Here we are. Mike Connors, in his full monkey glory, captaining his salvage ship The Claim Jumper. I really like the dynamic Blog adds to the crew. He’s a complex machine. Yet his programming is very basic. His logical path of problem resolution can cause the other crew members difficulties when justifying rule bending solve their issues. However, John never seems to have any problem with Blog. They get along spectacularly.
